Precision Plotting as a Quality Control Standard

Precision plotting is essential to maintaining dimensional integrity throughout duplication, digitization, and vectorization processes.

 

Each Precision Plot serves to validate that data integrity has been preserved from original source through final output.

Compliance Requirements

Precision Plots must meet the following requirements:

  • Accuracy of ±.005” in accordance with ASME Y14.31-2014 “Undimensioned Drawings – Engineering Drawing and Related Documentation Practices,” as specified in DI-SESS-82351A.

  • Minimum 1200 dpi plotting resolution.

  • Produced on dimensionally stable archival-quality media meeting national map accuracy standards.

  • Transparent or translucent media suitable for light table metrology comparison testing.

  • Maximum plot size 60"x144."

Controlled Production Environment

Precision Plots must be produced from both CAD files and directly from .tif scan files (raster data) to validate scanning system integrity.

 

Production must occur within a controlled temperature and humidity environment in accordance with media manufacturer recommendations to preserve dimensional stability.

 

Completed plots must normalize within a controlled environment for 24 hours prior to metrology testing.

Why Precision Plots Matter

Precision Plotting is not merely a reproduction process.

 

It is a validation tool used to confirm Dynamic Accuracy across the entire surface of an aeronautical Mylar.

 

Without controlled plotting, media stability, environmental regulation, and metrology comparison, dimensional integrity cannot be assured.
